As a very complex industry, the domain name business is defined by a lot of terms and proccesses. Some of them refer to the registration proccess, some to the administration but there are many who also are related to the domain name trade.
We have build a database of such terms and linked them to search result pages. In theis way, you have the chance to discover things you never knew about domains but also which can help you to understand and manage your domain business.
Microsoft India has announced to unveil a new email domain named live.in for Indians. Microsoft has introduced this service globally with country specific suffixes. Now these new domains will be default domain address when users sign up for Windows Live or individual services like Windows Live Hotmail or Windows Live Messenger.
“The new Live.in domain will give customers the chance to get a new name with a domain address more clearly associated with the new suite of Windows Live services,” commented Samir Saraiya, Product Head, Windows Live Services. “The Live.in id also opens up a whole new set of possible names so customers have a new opportunity to sign up for an ID name they really want.”
Users can access their email accounts via the internet, on a mobile phone or with an email client. Also it offers huge storage limit of 5GB.
Moreover live.in ID also provides access to following services:
Windows Live Messenger
Windows Live Spaces
Windows Live Mail
Windows Live SkyDrive Beta
Windows Live Photo Gallery
Windows Live Writer
Windows Live Family Safety
Windows Live Calendar Beta
Xbox Live
Live Search
Though the new email domain has been introduced, the old one i.e. hotmail is not discontinued. New users can opt for live.in or hotmail.com, whichever they prefer.
Google changing its Handling of Sub Domains
In the near future, Google will be changing the way it handles Sub Domains according to an article on SeroundTable. The article doesn’t go into all the details on how Google will handle the future changes but stay tuned for a post from Matt Cutts in the next week that will be discussing more about what Google’s plans are on the issue.
As eBay and others have aggressively used subdomains to dominate branded AND unbranded search results, and Google has improved their sitelinks technology, any relevancy gain by treating subdomains as a separate site will be going away. Google is going to start treating subdomains like subfolders, and limit the number of results from any site to just two.
There is still an upside to using subdomains because they allow you to feature standout content, but that upside relates to how marketable the content on that subdomain is, whereas in the past using lots of subdomains allowed eBay to get 20 of the top 30 listings for some queries, even if the subdomain was recycled garbage.
